FILM / TV
Inspired by our love and respect for the craft of acting, JPA Casting is built on 18+ years of assembling casts from the professional acting world. In maintaining our imprint on film and television, we lean on our rolodex of established, working, and emerging actors. We also like to surprise audiences with unexpected faces in bit parts and keep tabs on comedians, music artists, and athletes who are segueing into acting. Be it actors or crossover talent, we remain expansive, ensuring our databases reflect the racial, cultural, and gender identities of our global landscape.
ADVERTISING
In addition to casting actors for commercials, we find non-actors and inspiring stories for those developing documentaries, and branded and digital content. Through scouting and research, we curate searches of all levels to find real experiences that authentically amplify the voices being highlighted. On the brand side, with social media’s growing impact on consumers, there’s a reliance on influencers and content creators to promote products. As creative strategists, we help find collaborative influencers with standout social media assets that best represent a brand’s core values and audience.
Jennifer is one of those rare casting directors who actors look forward to auditioning for. She makes the room a comfortable and caring environment where each performer can truly shine. Her adjustments are always spot on, and make me wonder why she isn’t a director as well. Few people in this industry are as caring and talented as Jennifer. I wish all of my auditions could be for her.
~ Bernardo Cubria, Writer/Actor (The Fight Inside, Coco)
I was an unknown actor, from a smaller out of state market. Jennifer took a chance and cast me as the lead in a short film by J. Casey Modderno called “Disgrace”. This opportunity not only helped me grow as an actor, but also to forge new connections in the industry. I can truthfully say that my career would not be where it is today, nor where it will be tomorrow, if not for Jennifer believing in me.
~ Devin Druid, Actor (13 Reasons Why, Louder Than Bombs)
Jennifer is a casting director that is truly for the process. She cast me in “Lust Life Love” and her audition room was about the work with an openness of play, which is rare and always welcome. Jennifer is a light on this industry and I’m so happy that our paths have crossed.
~ Rolando Chusan, Actor (Promised Land)
I had the pleasure of closely collaborating with Jen on my award-winning short film / proof-of-concept pilot, STORMCHASER. From the start, Jen dug deep to understand the story’s nuances and my vision. She supported me fiercely throughout the process. She’s passionate about diversity and inclusion, and is a great “out-of-the-box” thinker — so her suggestions for various roles were sometimes surprising, always inspiring, and definitely helped me to get clearer on the qualities I needed to bring the characters I’d created to life on the screen. I believe that at least 90% of a film’s success is contingent upon casting the right actors and Jennifer helped me to do that, working tirelessly and overcoming the obstacles and setbacks that inevitably happen, especially in the indie realm. Casting is a unique craft unto itself. Jennifer brings her well-honed craft to serve every project she touches with the discipline of a ballet dancer, the sensitivity and soul of a storyteller plus the commitment of an activist to change the status quo of on-camera representation. She’s an invaluable asset to directors and production teams.
~ Gretl Claggett, Writer/Director (Stormchaser)
After showing my film ‘Disgrace’ around at numerous festivals, high praise has come specifically in regard to the performances. It was very important to me to find a group of actors who could portray this particularly tense family with an air of interpersonal baggage and skeletons in the closet. Jen brought the production a family that exceeded my expectations. She had the confidence and foresight to audition against type, and a keen eye towards interesting pairings between actors. “Disgrace’s” success is in huge part due to Jen’s talents, and I can’t imagine feeling confident approaching another project without her on the team.
~ Jane Casey Modderno, Writer/Director (Disgrace)
There’s no way to overstate it: Jen is a dream to work with. She has an innate sense for material, digging deep into the script to truly understand what the project needs. On SISTERS, we talked through the nitty-gritty of each character’s respective psychologies and relationships with one another, and somehow she could always weave that into reality. Not only were those conversations productive on a casting level, but they also impacted how I directed the film. She just has a very smart, perceptive and creative approach to casting. On top of that, she navigates through all the details to ensure the process of finding talent goes as smoothly as possible for all parties involved. She manages auditions like nobody’s business — I was especially struck by how well she interacted with our child actors. She was communicative and meticulous at every point in our work together. At times, it even felt like she was psychic, because she could intuit and anticipate certain requests I had, or tasks that needed to be done, in that quick, effortless, Jen way of hers. Above all else, she’s just a really great person to spend time with! By design, I like to create work with my friends, and I can proudly count Jen as a new friend with whom I would jump at the opportunity to collaborate again.
~ Chris Osborn, Writer/Director (True Blue, Sisters)
They don’t give out Oscars for casting, but if they decide to start, I have a feeling Jen will be one of the first recipients. For every question our film Lust Life raised, JPA had an answer ready. She was attentive and flexible in session, incorporating notes from both directors without a hiccup. We even created ‘story time’ together – allowing us to get past the audition mask and see the true actor underneath. But the very best thing about working with Jen is her patient, upbeat attitude. She’s always ready with a smile, and when she has to stand up for an idea, she does so in a polite and respectful manner. Again, if you care about the tone and attitude of your casting department, put Jen on top of it and you’ll never have to worry. I would (and very soon might) work with Jen again. You should too.
~ Ben Feuer, Director (Lust Life Love)
Working with Jen is a privilege and a joy. She brings wisdom, determination, intuition, passion, and tremendous talent to her job. Jen is an easy, clear communicator with a deep understanding of both the director and the actor’s process. Having her as an ally on any film is a huge asset. I hired Jen for a fine art video project with unusual demands of talent - my lead needed to mouth the recorded dialogue of another actor, while emoting straight to camera for very long takes. Jen understood the rhythm and themes of the piece right away and suggested wonderful performers for the role. She helped me craft the right deal to draw the kind of talent I needed and walked me through every step of the casting process. Thanks to her I enjoyed casting enormously and ended up with the performer of my dreams. Do yourself and your project a big favor and hire Jen! Your film will benefit hugely from her expertise and her generous spirit.
